Higher Education Technical School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad - VTSNS (www.vtsns.edu.rs) was founded by the state in 1959. Today it is a modern HE vocational institution, with 92 employees, 55 teaching staff. The School ranks among the largest vocational HE in Serbia, offerring 13 Bachelor and 7 vocational Specialist programes in the areas of tehnical sciences, safety engeineering and applied art&design. Since 2010 Fire Protection and IT studies have been accredited as distance learning programs. The intake is around 1,420 undergraduate and 120 specialist postgraduate students per annum.
The University of Tuzla - UNTZ (www.untz.ba) is a public HE institution, established in 1976. UNTZ is currently in the process of obtaining institutional accreditation from the Cantonal Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. In 2001 UNTZ became the first integrated University in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The teaching is organized in three cycles, in line with the Bologna Process, and the University offers more than 80 study programs in 12 faculties. Currently, there are around 16,000 students studying at UNTZ and 720 academic and administrative staff members.
UNTZ has signed over 40 cooperation agreements with the HEIs worldwide and is focused on developing relationships with the academic community and strengthening the international process. The University has participated in a number of international mobility and research projects, such as Erasmus Mundus, Ceepus, Tempus, Mevlana, FP6, FP7, IPA and many more.
The University of Banja Luka - UBL (www.unibl.org), established in 1975, is the second largest in BH, with more than 18,500 students. It consists of 16 faculties and has 137 licensed study programs at all three cycles, fully commuted to the idea of a borderless area for research and knowledge exchange in Europe. Besides of an excellent location and own facilities, UBL has other competitive capabilities, including about 1,000 research active staff for teaching and research excellence and 450 administrative staff members.
UBL staff has been involved in 89 Tempus projects, several FP6 projects and FP7 projects, as well as in Erasmus Mundus projects. Also, UBL is involved in 4 Erasmus+ Capacity building projects and 10 Erasmus+ credit mobility projects. The other international projects were financed by: the European Commission, the Council of Europe, United Nations, the World Bank, governments of several states.
UBL is bound by more than 200 bilateral agreements on cooperation with public and private universities from all over the world.
University of Tirana - UT (www.unitir.edu.al) was founded in 1957. Today, UT is the largest public university in the country. It includes 6 faculties, 50 academic departments, and 41 study programs or majors. At UT study about 40 thousand students in the three cycles of study. One of the goals of UT has been its international recognition. UT has signed many agreements with various universities and institutions of Europe and world. These framework agreements are aimed at academic and student exchanges, joint research programs, joint publications, etc. UT is also a member of many foreign networks, such as UNICA, UNIMED, CMU etc.
Faculty of Economy (FE), established in 1952, became part of UT in 1957. At that time, FE offered majors only in two branches: Economics and Accounting. During the years that followed, the Faculty was enlarged, and in 1990 it offered majors in six branches. After 1991, FE was reorganized and restructured radically in form and content. Today, approximately 3000 students are enrolled in Bachelor studies, over 1500 are Master students and approximately 250 are post-graduate students.
Epoka University (www.epoka.edu.al) was established and is owned by the Turgut Özal Education Institution, which has also established and operated the much-acclaimed system of Turkish education in Albania since 1992, and now is one of best national leading private research universities and in the mid-term, aims at becoming one of the best universities in the region. Epoka currently offers Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees taught completely in English, in 13 different programs within two faculties namely Architecture and Engineering and Economics and Administrative Sciences. Epoka is a signatory of Magna Charta Universitatum and is a member of International Association of Universities. Currently Epoka have 157 staff members and the number of Bachelor students is 1,144, while the number of graduate students is 341. With staff that has extensive international experience, we have developed highly innovative approaches to active and reflective learning with extensive use of ICT in delivery. The programs offered are developed in response to demand in the market.
In line with its objective of being a research-oriented institution, Epoka University has been the first of the very few private HEIs in Albania to have benefited from the TEMPUS program FP7, COST, Jean Monnet, etc, and it aims at substantially increasing its participation within the short-term in projects financed by other EU programs such as the Horizon 2020, Marie Curie, etc.
Protection and Rescue Directorate of Macedonia - PRDM (www.dzs.gov.mk) is independent governmental organization since 2005. Previously, it was part of Ministry of Defence (Civil Protection Sector). All other WB public services are still parts of Ministries for Internal or Security. The transfer of their transition experience will contribute to defining WB needs in learning outcomes and qualifications of new DRM&FSE students. The Directorate is consisted of one central office located in Skopje, of 4 sections with 11 departments, 4 independent departments and 35 regional departments for protection and rescue, covering the overall territory of the state. From 2010 one new Department for special aerial fire fighting services has been established.
National Fire Protection Association - NUZOP RS (www.nuzop.org.rs) is the unique Serbian professionals’ association of active working experts in the field. NUZOP is a regionally oriented organization and represents a wide platform for gathering of experts dealing with emergencies situations and fire safety. Programs and initiatives are designed to assist institutions and national fire authorities in creating fire safety system, as well as fire, security and safety, and other relevant professionals to achieve and maintain the very highest standards of fire safety management.
Founders and members of the NUZOP are representatives of various fields of industry and commerce, having the mutual goal to identify and draw attention to the dangers of fire and the means by which their potential for loss is kept to a minimum.
European Youth Parliament - EYP (www.eyp.rs) is a youth non-governmental, non-partisan organization that exists in 40 European countries. European Youth Parliament simulates decision making process of European Parliament and is established as a non-formal educational programme with the aim of providing the young with a possibility for education, exchange of opinions and in order to encourage them to take an active role in their societies. EYP Serbia was established in 2006 and has since then organized between 5 and 12 events annually. It currently has 70 active members organized in four Regional offices in Novi Sad, Belgrade, Kragujevac and Niš.
